Check into one or more of the water conservation programs available through the district. These programs can assist you to more efficiently manage your water consumption and are offered free of charge in conjunction with the district’s water wholesale suppliers, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and San Diego County Water Authority.

 Single-Family Residential Rebates

High-efficiency Toilet (1.28 gpf) - $100

 High-efficiency Clothes Washer - $135

Smart Irrigation Controller (less than one acre) - $230

Smart Irrigation Controller (one acre or more) - $630

High-efficiency Rotating Nozzles - $4 per nozzle

Synthetic Turf - $.50 per square foot

 California Friendly Homeowner Landscape Classes
VID offers free Homeowner Landscape Classes twice a year, in the Fall and Spring. All classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the district's office located at 1391 Engineer Street in Vista. The following topics are covered: landscape design, plant identification, irrigation systems, and irrigation maintenance. Please call our Conservation Department at (760) 597-3160 to find out more information about the classes or to find out when the next class will be held.

High-efficiency Toilet (1.28 gpf) - $200

High-efficiency Toilet (upgrade from 1.6 gpf only) - $30

Cooling Tower Conductivity Controller - $625 ($1,900 for pH)

Dry Vacuum Pump - $125 per 0.5 HP (up to 2.0 HP)

Steam Sterilizer - $1,900

High-efficiency Toilet (1.28 gpf) - $200

High-efficiency Toilet (upgrade from 1.6 gpf only) - $30

Pre-rinse Spray Valve - $60

High-efficiency Urinal (0.5 gpf) - $200

 Smart Landscape Program

This program provides grants up to $2,500 per irrigated acre to upgrade irrigation hardware.  Commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family sites may receive a total of $5,000.  Public sites may receive a total of $10,000.  Funds are limited.

 Smart Irrigation Controller Voucher Program for Commercial, Public and Multi-Family Properties

This program provides vouchers worth up to $25 per station (maximum 48 stations) towards the purchase of an eligible weather based irrigation controller.  To qualify, properties must have at least 2,000 square feet of irrigated landscaping.  Please call (800) 986-4538 (option 2, 5) to determine property eligibility and voucher availability.  Click here for more detailed information.

 Protector del Agua
The district offers Protector del Agua courses to landscape professionals several times a year. The Protector del Agua course is an education program for landscape technicians. The course is offered free of charge and is designed to provide information that will help professionals do their job more effectively. The skills presented in the course will help landscape professionals conserve water for their clients, and by doing so, save money. Please call our Conservation Department at (760) 597-3160 to find out more information about the classes or to find out when the next series of classes will be held.
