Check into one or more of the water conservation programs available through the district. These programs can assist you to more efficiently manage your water consumption and are offered free of charge in conjunction with the district’s water wholesale suppliers, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and San Diego County Water Authority.

High-efficiency Clothes Washer (single & multi-family) - $185

Weather-based Irrigation Controller (less than 1 acre) - $80

Weather-based Irrigation Controller (more than 1 acre) - $25 per station

Rotating Nozzles - $3 (minimum of 25)

 Single-Family Smart Landscape Evaluations
A Smart Landscape Evaluation is a free service designed to assist customers with the identification of indoor and outdoor water savings opportunities.  Participants can expect to have technicians review indoor fixtures and evaluate the performance of the site's irrigation system.  At the end, the participant will receive a list of recommendations and proposed watering schedule.  To enroll in this program, call (866) 883-1332.

 Smart Landscape Evaluations
A Smart Landscape Evaluation is a free service designed to assist business customers with the identification of outdoor water savings opportunities.  Participants will receive a report outlining site specific irrigation and maintenance recommendations as well as plant alternatives designed to reduce water waste and use.  To enroll in this program, call (866) 883-1332.

 California Friendly Homeowner Landscape Classes
VID offers free Homeowner Landscape Classes twice a year, in the Fall and Spring. All classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the district's office located at 1391 Engineer Street in Vista. The following topics are covered: landscape design, plant identification, irrigation systems, and irrigation maintenance. Please call our Conservation Department at (760) 597-3160 to find out more information about the classes or to find out when the next class will be held.
 
 Protector del Agua
The district offers Protector del Agua courses to landscape professionals several times a year. The Protector del Agua course is an education program for landscape technicians. The course is offered free of charge and is designed to provide information that will help professionals do their job more effectively. The skills presented in the course will help landscape professionals conserve water for their clients, and by doing so, save money. Please call our Conservation Department at (760) 597-3160 to find out more information about the classes or to find out when the next series of classes will be held.
